Árpad Martín García Enev - translated interview
Interview posted on August 23, 2025
❓ 1. Please introduce yourself to the readers!
🗣️ "My name is Árpad Martín García Enev. I was born in Szeged, Hungary, and my first name comes from Árpád, a Hungarian prince, which makes me proud of my roots. I'm 18 years old and currently playing for Estudiantes de La Plata, one of the most historic clubs in Argentina. Football has been part of my life since I was very young, and my family has always supported me in chasing this dream."
❓ 2. Despite your young age, you have played for many clubs, including Spanish teams – among them the Athletic Bilbao affiliate – and Argentine clubs. What are your experiences with your previous and current teams?
🗣️ "I've had the chance to play in different environments and countries, which has been very important for my development. In Spain, especially in División de Honor Juvenil and with the Athletic Bilbao affiliate, I learned about intensity, tactics, and responsibility on the pitch. In Argentina, football is about passion, resilience, and competing at the highest physical level. At Estudiantes, every training session is like a battle but although the intensity, there are many players with a huge talent that play really good so I try to learn from them and that pushes me to keep growing."
❓ 3. What are your short-term and long-term goals in football? Is there a club or league you would especially like to play in in the future?
🗣️ "My short-term goal is to become a consistent starter in the reserve team at Estudiantes and earn opportunities with the first team. Long-term, I want to play in Europe, in top leagues such as La Liga or the Premier League. And also every footballer's dream is playing a world cup. But my focus now is only on working hard every day at Estudiantes and improving step by step."
❓ 4. How would you describe your playing style? What are your strongest attributes?
🗣️ "I'm a central midfielder who likes to give balance to the team. I'm focused on recovering balls, pressing, and building play from the middle. My strengths are reading the game, keeping intensity, and giving my teammates good passing options to go forward quickly. But I'm also a passionate man of tactical and understanding of the game."
❓ 5. Do you have any role model(s)?
🗣️ "Yes, I admire Sergio Busquets and Xavi Hernández for their vision and quality, Toni Kroos for the way he controls the tempo of a match, and players like Pedri and Iniesta for their dribbling and creativity. From Argentina, I look up to Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández, who are great examples of modern midfielders."
❓ 6. What do you like to do in your free time when you're not training or playing?
🗣️ "I like spending time with my family and friends, and I also enjoy watching football to learn from other players. Outside of football, I like music and reading because they help me relax and stay balanced."
❓ 7. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received about football?
🗣️ "I had a coach that used to say that football is about finding the right confidence, not an excessive confidence and not the other hand that is a low confidence. Also My parents have always been my biggest support. My father used to tell me that talent is important, but discipline and mentality are what really make the difference in the long run. And my mother always reminded me to stay humble, enjoy the game, and never forget why I love football. Together, their advice keeps me motivated every day."
❓ 8. Is there anything you would like to say to Hungarian readers who might start following your career after this interview?
🗣️ "I want to thank Hungarian readers for their interest. I'm proud of being born in Hungary, and I hope to make you proud with my football in the future. I'll keep working hard every day to represent those values."
❓ 9. Has the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) ever contacted or shown interest in you? If given the opportunity, would you represent Hungary?
🗣️ "I was born in Szeged, and Hungary will always be part of who I am. Recently, I've even had contact with a Hungarian club, although the conversations are still very preliminary. For now, my full focus is on Estudiantes. But of course, if the Hungarian Football Federation showed interest in me in the future, it would be a huge honor to represent the country of my birth."
🗣️ 10.
"I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey – my family, coaches, and teammates. Every step of my career so far has been possible thanks to them."
