Márk Erös - translated interview

Interview posted on March 8, 2025

Please introduce yourself to the readers! Tell us a bit about yourself, your family, and your career so far. How did you end up at your current club?

🗣 Hello everyone, my name is Márk Erös, I am 19 years old, and I was born in Baden, Austria. Both of my parents are from Hungary, and they moved to Austria together. Before I was born, my older sister came into the world, and she definitely deserves a mention. Since my father was a footballer himself, I started playing football in 2013 because of him. After a few years, I decided that I wanted to become a professional footballer, and eventually, I was invited to a trial at the SV Horn Academy. I've been here for five years now, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.

What is it like to play at the SV Horn Academy? How is life in Austria? What is the environment like there?

🗣 Austria, in general, is a very pleasant country to live in, mainly due to the good school education system and strong healthcare. At SV Horn, I played in every age group from U15 to U18, but I was already playing for Horn's second team at the age of 16. This meant that I finished youth football quite quickly and have been playing at the senior level for years now. Overall, I can say that the academy was not particularly well-developed during my time, but in recent years, many things have been improved. Therefore, for me, it wasn't a truly outstanding experience.

What are your short-term and long-term goals in football? Is there a club or league where you would especially like to play in the future?

🗣 My short-term goal is to improve day by day and always give my best, whether in training or in matches. My long-term goal is to make a name for myself in professional football. Of course, my dream would be to play in one of the top 5 leagues, but my biggest wish is to play for Liverpool or Napoli, as I have been a huge fan of both clubs since childhood.

If you have the opportunity, do you watch Hungarian football? Do you have a favorite Hungarian team?

🗣 I only watch Hungarian football when a team plays an international match. I don't have a favorite Hungarian club team; I follow the Hungarian national team more than the domestic league.

Do you have a role model?

🗣 Zidane was my role model because my father and I used to watch old recordings of him, and I always admired his playing style. His ball control and vision on the field were absolutely unique. However, if I play as a defender instead of a midfielder, then De Ligt is my role model. He plays in a very similar style to mine, and I love his mentality as well as the aggressiveness he always brings to the pitch.

What do you like to do in your free time when you're not training or playing?

🗣 Since I stay at the academy from Sunday evening to Friday, I have very little time for anything else besides training and school. If I do get some free time, I try to spend as much of it as possible with my family and friends while also taking a bit of time to rest from the weekly workload.

If you had the opportunity, would you represent Hungary as a national team player?

🗣 100%. Mainly because of my parents, as they also want me to represent Hungary. Even as a child, my dream was to one day play for the national team, and I hope I will achieve this goal in the future. Currently, I only have Austrian citizenship, so I need to complete the necessary paperwork to be eligible to play for Hungary. At the same time, I can also imagine representing Austria, as I have spent my entire life here.
